GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), the new search.

Generative Engine Optimization or simply described “AI optimization” is the new standard in online marketing and focuses on optimizing content for AI models and systems such as ChatGPT and Gemini. You see more and more often when you Google that the results start with an AI summary. GEO ensures that your content is recognized and used in the AI-generated answers. It is not a replacement for SEO but an addition to SEO and therefore also an addition to our basic optimization services that you get with every site or shop, and an addition to our maintenance contract.

GEO and SEO: a powerful combination.

In addition to automated AI answers, more and more people are using AI tools for information and price comparison, which provides direct answers instead of link lists like with SEO. Therefore, it is crucial that your content remains relevant in this new landscape. There is an overlap with SEO, keywords remain important, but clear, well-structured content is even more essential for GEO. So less keyword stuffing and more answers to questions because AI looks for content that is relevant and informative. Furthermore, AI does not only look at text, but also at media such as images and videos.

The technical side of GEO.

Technically, there’s also an enormous overlap with SEO, for AI models, a website must also be fast and accessible. You could even call this the foundation. Sites and shops need to offer a good mobile experience for optimal display in AI. Technically, GEO revolves around making your website as structured, accessible, and understandable as possible. We also implement GEO in accordance with Google’s guidelines because if everything is picked up well by Gemini, it will also be picked up by other systems like ChatGPT, Copilot, YandexGPT, etc.

SEO remains the indispensable foundation for online visibility, but some new guidelines are emerging, or rather, new opportunities to be found online. We’ve already delivered the first sites and shops in accordance with these new GEO guidelines.
